이진주의 개인전 《Discontinuous Continuity》는 보이는 것과 보이지 않는 것 사이의 경계를 오가며 새로운 감각을 제안한다. ‘이정배 블랙’의 깊은 어둠은 무대의 막처럼 화면을 감싸고, 그 속에서 손과 얼굴, 기묘한 사물들이 떠오른다.

작품 앞에서 우리는 마치 탐정처럼 단서를 찾게 된다.
이건 사건 현장일까? 왜 바나나가 여기 있지?
이 의문이 바로 전시의 힘이다.

이진주의 화면은 현실의 단편들을 가져오되, 그 조각들이 서로 맞물리는 방식은 언제나 비논리적이고 낯설다. 방 안에 놓인 사물의 위치, 인물의 표정, 손의 방향—이 어긋남이 주는 불안은 단순한 기괴함이 아니라, 우리가 스스로도 이해하지 못한 감정의 잔상처럼 오래 남는다. 작가는 ‘서사’보다 ‘기류’를 보여준다. 설명되지 않는 분위기, 설명되지 않기에 더 강렬해지는 이야기의 그림자.
